Top Chef Washington, DC? Say It’s So Chef Colicchio!
Ah the DC reality TV show rumor mill is churning again, but this time, it’s something I think everyone in the city would really dig. According to Kate Nerenberg of the Washingtonian.com Best Bites Blog, Top Chef, the Bravo series that’s captivated the hearts and minds of thousands(well, maybe just me), could be coming to our city to film the 7th season.
DC Metro already has very strong ties already to Top Chef. Here are some of the connections to the area:
- Brian Voltaggio, whose brother Michael won the crown of Top Chef, finished in second place this past year. Brian runs Volt in Frederick, MD, considered by many to be the best restaurant in the DC suburbs.
- Mike Isabella who got pretty far in this year’s competition as well, runs Zaytinya in Chinatown, a mainstay on the DC’s best restaurants list.
- Carla Hall of Alchemy Caterers finished as a runner-up in season five.
The show’s new season is expected to begin filming some time this Spring. If the rumor is true, talented chefs from all over the map will be coming to the District, as well as the show’s host Padma Lakshmi…and that makes me happy.
Should Top Chef DC come to fruition, my goal will be to be a guest judge one episode. Regardless of my complete lack of high-class culinary experience, I know this city and I make a damn good red-wine seared steak.
I figure I need about a million strong calling for me as a guest judge to even get in the discussion, which might seem unlikely, but I believe in you.
While we don’t even know yet if Top Chef will in fact come to DC, and while the likelihood of me getting chosen as a guest judge should that happen is about as small as possible, let’s try. Some say it can’t be done, but that’s because dreamers never dream.
So, DCCondoLoft and CondoDomain DC nation, who’s with me?
