Mount Vernon Triangle now a Viable option for DC Condominium Buyers and Investors

In a really well-written article published over the weekend in the Washington Post, UrbanTurf writers Will Smith and Mark Wellborn chronicled the transformation of the Mount Vernon Triangle area in downtown DC. The neighborhood, which now features beautiful, state-of-the-art DC condo buildings like the City Vista properties, used to be known as a seedy community.

“A few years ago, Mount Vernon Triangle was an area known for parking lots and prostitution,” Smith and Wellborn’s article reads.  ”Today, it is a popular destination in the District for young home buyers, where new high-rise condos sit amid remnants of what was once an urban wasteland.”

The article explores the area’s transition, dating back to 2004, when the Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District was created.  The organization has helped the area begin to maximize its potential for business and real estate.  Because it is right in the heart of downtown, next to neighborhoods like Chinatown and Penn Quarter, Mount Vernon Triangle has access to tons of public transportation as well as great restaurants, bars, and shopping.
