This past Saturday I had the pleasure of making my first trip to the H Street Biergarten Haus. The Biergarten Haus, for those of you who have not had the pleasure to attend it, is a German inspired beer garden located in the H Street Corridor, featuring oversized, delicious beers, and big tables for seating outside under a canopy. It’s great, so get over there if you haven’t already.
The Biergarten Haus is just one of the most recent additions to The H Street Corridor, a community that is growing rapidly. The neighborhood, which no one will claim to be the home of ultra-luxurious properties, is quickly becoming a major hangout, as well as a more affordable home, for residents throughout the city. The area has tons of funky bars like Rock and Roll Hotel and H Street Country Club, which are supplemented by dance and performing arts outlets.
Many have pointed to H Street as the next U Street: A community whose emerging nightlife scene may ultimately result in a housing boom.
It’s a a great place to buy if you are looking to get in on the ground level of a community that could soon by one of DC’s most popular. So here are five new properties to hit the DC housing market in the same 20002 zip code as my beloved Biergarten Haus. Many are town homes, like this residence located on 5th Street in NE:
