DC Circulator Bus About to Be Back in Service!

After about six months of not running, the DC Circulator bus will return to service during the Cherry Blossom Festival, according to Kytja Weir of the Washington Examiner.

The bus had its service suspended in late 2009, as DC said it would save the city almost $140,000. The bus’ Smithsonian/National Mall route will return at 10 a.m. on March 27. The route will circle around the U.S. Capitol, the Mall and 17th Street.

“The Circulator is the one of the only and cheapest modes of public transportation to get directly to the Tidal Basin and around the Mall,” Weir wrote.  ”Tourmobile, which has an exclusive contract with the National Park Service, costs at least $26 for an adult, compared with $1 for the Circulator.  Metrobus also offers some service near the area, but the Circulator’s five routes are easier for visitors to navigate, with its $1 fares and bright red buses that run on a 10-minute schedule.”

Good to have the Circulator back, as the city is much more complete with the presence of the big buses with the maps on the side.
