Michelle Lerner of UrbanTurf wrote an article yesterday about the expansion of the Brookland neighborhood in NE.  The Brookland area, which shares the community and Metro station stop with Catholic University, was dubbed “Little Rome” because of its religious connection.  Now, though, Brookland is becoming an artistic community, and will soon be filled with DC condo and DC loft residents who long to live in the city but not pay the big bucks for a downtown NW property.

Dupont Circle Condos

DCMud is reporting that a new DC condominium loft complex will be coming to Dupont Circle, possibly as early as Spring of 2011.
According to the DCMud, the FORMDesign group purchased the building at 1737 Connecticut Avenue in June and the plans are coming into focus.  The building was Anna Maria’s Italian Restaurant, but will soon be converted.  On the bottom two floors there will be a restaurant, with four loft style condominium units above.

Anticipated to begin construction in 2010, the CityCenterDC project has many city officials and residents excited.  The development, which will finally fill the 10-acre empty lot between 9th, 10th, and H Streets and New York Avenue, is expected to have a little bit of everything.
The breakdown of the construction is as follows:

Retail: 333,000 sf
2 Office Areas : each being approximately 500,000 sf
Housing: 674 units
Parking: 2,451 spaces
And about a 400 room hotel

The area is also expected to incorporate some pedestrian friendly aspects, like walkable alleyways, and potentially a park and plaza. …
